Automatic emergency braking is an active safety system that activates the car's brakes when a potential collision is detected. It works automatically and doesn't require the driver to actually touch the brake pedal. It can also increase braking force if the driver is applying the brakes, but not enough to prevent a collision. All AEB systems can detect vehicles, and many can also detect pedestrians and cyclists. The purpose of AEB is to reduce collisions by engaging the brakes in a dangerous situation or when the driver is not braking enough.
