Sony Smart Vision Sensor IMX 500/501
The IMX 500/501 are two smart vision sensors with AI processing capabilities released by Sony, which can extract only necessary data while implementing high-speed edge AI processing, thereby reducing data transmission delays when using cloud services, ensuring privacy security, and reducing Power consumption and communication costs. The IMX 500 is a bare die, while the 501 is a packaged product. This image sensor broadens the research and development space for AI cameras, can be widely used in retail and industrial equipment industries, and helps to build optimized systems connected to the cloud.
The chip uses a back-illuminated light input, with an effective pixel of about 12.3 million, which can capture image information from a wide viewing angle. In addition to the traditional image sensor operation circuit, its logic chip is also equipped with Sony's DSP (Digital Signal Processor), which is dedicated to AI signal processing and can store AI models. This configuration requires no high-performance processors or external storage, making it ideal for edge AI systems.
